You guys, this is not a drill! I have some incredible news for you all this morning. Last week, we were running some numbers for reporting (you know, all the boring stuff), and made a huge discovery. We are, exactly, 3 NEW MEMBERS AWAY FROM 1000! That’s right, we are at 997 Generations members. Crazy, right? I know! We decided that once we hit the magical 1K, we are going to do something fun to celebrate. While I asked Greg for a ticker-tape parade, we will most likely keep it a little more low-key than that. Regardless of what we do, it is crazy to me that we have so many people in our Generations family. Not only do we have almost 1K members, but we have an extremely high rate of active users at around 80%. To me, that’s almost more impressive than the 1K number. In any case, we’re all super excited to hit this milestone, hopefully sooner rather than later. If you have a friend that’s been debating whether or not to join, bring them in. It’s a great time to be at Generations!
I have a couple of other things I want to mention this morning before getting into the upcoming events. August is just around the corner and we have two big events we’re really excited about. First is our 1st ever Generational Trivia Fundraiser on Sunday, August 18th. Teams of up to 8 people will play against each other in rounds designed to appeal to every generation. Every round will have questions from the Silent Generation (1928-1945) through Generation Alpha (2013 – Today), so having an intergenerational team will really give you a leg-up. Registration is $80 per team and only the team captain needs to sign up. Visit www.generationsic.org to sign up through our website or stop in the office and talk to Joa or me.
The other big August event is the Paul Todd Jr. Concert on Friday, August 16th. Paul Todd Sr. has officially retired, so now it’s Paul Todd Jr.’s time to shine! His show is called The Michael Bublé Experience and will feature music by Michael Bublé (of course), as well hits by Sinatra, Darin, and the rest of the Rat Pack. The concert will be outdoors if the weather allows, but we do have the indoor space lined up, just in case. We will also have our traditional Dinner Buffet before the show for anyone who wants to make it a full-blown night out. The buffet will be $25 per person and begin 1 hour before the show starts. Otherwise, the concert portion is free an open to the public. Please email, call, or stop in the office to sign up for the dinner, or just show up on the 16th at 6:30pm for the show!
Alright, let’s take a look at what’s coming up this week and next…

Two more quick hits for the morning. First, due to some vacations and scheduling, the Generations doors will be locked tonight (7/22) and tomorrow (7/23) at 4:00pm. We don’t have any scheduled events either evening, but I know sometimes people like to come in for a quiet place to be in the evening. The building will go back to its normal hours (7am – 7pm) on Wednesday (7/24). I’m sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
And lastly, I just wanted to take one last opportunity to thank everyone who came out to support Generations last week, both at the concert Tuesday night and the Golf Scramble and Walk Fundraiser on Wednesday. As I eluded to earlier, it was a crazy week on our end, but also incredibly rewarding. It absolutely warms our hearts and fills our cups to see so many people who care about Generations. Thank you for being the best membership, the best ambassadors, and the best supporters we could ever ask for.
Thanks everyone. Have a great week!
